Biography/History:
At this time, Francis Hopkinson was the Treasurer of Loans for the Continental Congress in Philadelphia. Thomas Harwood was the Commissioner of Loans for Maryland.
Summary:
In this letter, Francis Hopkinson grants Thomas Harwood the amount of $1,920 for the use of Maryland's Continental Loan Office. Hopkinson lists the number of certificates granted the state, their values, and their identification numbers. Included is an engraving of Hopkinson by J. B. Longacre.
