At this time, James Wilson was living in Carlisle, PA, and working as a lawyer. Edmond Physick was an attorney in Philadelphia. John Penn was the Lieutenant-Governor for Pennsylvania. John Montogomery was a colonel for the Pennsylvania militia.
Summary:
The letter dated 1773, James Wilson invites Edmond Physick to look over some land Wilson had just acquired in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. The back of this letter is dated a few days later and asks Physick to pay Wilson a retaining fee. It is signed by John Penn. Included is an engraving of Wilson's residence in Philadelphia. Below this engraving is a letter from Wilson to John Montgomery. The letter is dated 14 September 1775 and expresses worry for the distressed and impoverished people of Pennsylvania. The letter also addresses a peace treaty with the Indians.
