- At this time, Oliver Wolcott was a judge in Connecticut. Lynde Lord was the sheriff of Litchfield County, Connecticut.
- Summary:
- This letter addressed to the County Court of Litchfield, Connecticut, nominates Mary Weller to keep up a "public house of entertainment" in Litchfield following the death of her husband, Joseph Weller, owner of a Litchfield tavern. The document is signed by Oliver Wolcott and Lynde Lord. Includes one engraving of Wolcott's residence in Litchfield, and one of Wolcott by J. Longacre from a painting in Delaplaines Gallery.
