- Paulo Martins (Jardel Filho) is a young poet and journalist who is persuaded by his lover Sara (Glauce Rocha) to become involved in the politics of his country, the hypothetical Eldorado. He fights against two corrupt politicians, a populist governor (José Lewgoy) and a conservative president (Paulo Autran), both who were at one time his friends.
