The writer reports how he left Jerusalem for Giza where he was living with Christians from Bethlehem. Stricken with cholera, he departed by ship. He was healed, but then ran into financial and legal complications.
He subsequently visited R. Mordekhai Algazi in Cairo. He was jailed for three days for failing to pay a debt. He left jail penniless, and was taken in for the Sabbath by a local Rabbi. He is now begging for support.
