- Biography/History:
- Justine Rosé (née Mahler) was the sister of Gustav Mahler. She married Arnold Rosé (1863-1946) in 1902; Justine and Arnold had two children: Alma Rosé (1906-1944) and Alfred Rosé (1909-1999).
- Summary:
- The letters reflect a warm friendship between Alma and Justine subsequent to Gustav Mahler's death. 2 letters date from 1911; and 1 from 1933. One of the earlier letters mentions a commotion in Mahler's circle of friends about the possibility that Natalie Bauer-Lechner might publish her memoirs (Erinnerungen) of Mahler. The 1933 letter makes references to a successful performance in Berlin by Justine's daughter, Alma; and to the marriage of her son, Alfred ("Alfi").
