A remarkably detailed document on mid-century manners, customs, & attitudes; notable also are the brief & long verse passages cited from Georg Engelsüss, a popular didactic poet of some power & eloquence as well as awkwardness, about whom little seems to be known except that he was an army chaplain (apparently with Duke Bernhard of Weimar) & that he published three works on the war in 1648.
