Biography/History:
A native of Prague, Robert Weltsch (1891-1982) was at this time the editor of Jüdische Rundschau, the publication of the German Zionist organization (Zionistische Vereingung für Deutschland), based in Berlin. (The journal was shut down by the Nazi regime in 1938.) Weltsch writes from Zurich, where he was visiting.
Summary:
Response to a letter from Werfel, concerning a variety of matters, mostly pertaining to publishing conditions in Germany, with particular regard to Werfel's new novel (Höret die Stimme), as well as the Jüdische Rundschau.
