- Summary:
- Varady continues his study of historiography and its relationship to realism, social engagement, and especially the political processes found only behind the scenes. Using the Greek enlightenment as one test case he takes an interdisciplinary approach that includes physics, philosophy, theology and economy and how their results are perceived to build a new set of premises about pluralism, pragmatism, and relativization and the movement to anthropocentric standardization of legal and ethical norms. He moves through the Athenian-Spartan experiences and how they impacted modern international law, particularly when a mistaken concept is repaired. He then applies his concepts to the case of historico-political culture in Europe from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries by conducting a very interesting survey of title page texts.
