In a letter of 1936 Itten writes on behalf of the Hungarian pianist Julian Károlyi, asking Alma Mahler to hear him play and possibly help him in his career. In 1951, from Zurich, Itten expresses happiness at renewed correspondence with Alma, outlines events in his personal life since 1938, and describes his current work and plans, mentioning the imminent opening of Museum Rietberg für aussereuropäische Kunst.
