Imprint from colophon on leaf 2O6r, which reads: Hie mit volendt das bůch genant lyber de arte dystillandi de simplicibus vo[n] Ieronimo brunschwyg wundt artzot der keiserlichen fryen statt Strassburg, vn[d] getruckt durch den wol geachte[n] Iohannem grüeninger zů strassburg in dem achte[n] tag des meye. Als man zalt von der geburt Christi fünfftzehenhundert. Lob sy got.
Chancery folio, printed in double columns. Leaf C2r: 47 lines to a full column, plus headline; area of text: 227 (238) x 151 mm.; col. width: 72 mm. Printed initials and initial spaces, most with guide letters. With signatures and foliation; without catchwords. Numerous woodcuts, including 6 large illustrations (leaf A1r: a garden in which plants are being harvested and distilled; leaf A2r: a teacher and four students; leaf C1r: a crowned scholar at his reading desk; leaves C4v-C5r: a banner containing a poem; leaf E1r: a kneeling young man offering a book to a king; leaf Z2r: three doctors at a patient's bedside) and many smaller ones of plants, animals and distillation apparatus. Signatures: A-D⁸ E-Z⁶ 2A-2O⁶.
Errors in foliation: leaves CXXXIIII and CLXVIII numbered CXLIIII and CXVIII, respectively.
Leaf 2O4r appears in more than one setting. Left-hand col., line 45 reads: "alle vergyfft vnd gyfftiger thyer byss." A variant reads: "für alle vergyfft vnd gyfftiger thyer byss." Right-hand col., line 21: initial space without guide letter. A variant: initial space with guide letter. Left-hand col., lines 37-39 read: "... d[as], d[as] nütz vn[d] darzů gůt ist d[as] ich dyss gena[n]t bůch. Liber dystillandi de simplicibus." A variant reads: "... das, das nütz vn[d] darzů gůt ist d[as] ich dyss bůch genannt dystillatoria de simplicibus ..." Cf. GW.
