Helwig mentions that his mother, Bine Bergen of Hamburg, had corresponded occasionally with Alma Mahler; he was interested in writing a book about Franz Werfel. He also mentions that he had published reviews of works by Werfel and of Alma Mahler's memoir Mein Leben; included is a typed transcript of the latter review (it appears that the transcript was an enclosure with the letter; according to an annotation, it was published in a number of German and Swiss newspapers).
