Alma Mahler had known Hassmann for many years; she mentions conversing with him at a social gathering in a diary entry of Feb. 18, 1902; see Tagebuch-Suiten ed. by Beaumont and Rode-Breymann. 1 item is a blank card on which Hassmann has written a message and on the reverse sketched in pencil a medieval herald on horseback holding up a banner bearing his telephone number.
Notes:
Hassmann was a painter who had studied in Vienna and later lived in Munich.
