- Summary:
- Pierre thought he knew his uncle Charles well. He had worked with him for 15 years, assisting the austere art historian in his studies. After Charles' death, Pierre finds a diary in which his uncle had written of a secret, heartbreaking love affair. When Pierre meets Judith, the woman his uncle loved, neither one mentions the affair, but the image that Pierre has of Charles is irrevocably transformed. Then Pierre meets Judith's daughter and finds that his own life will be changed forever.
