The 2 letters were inserted by Alma Mahler between the pages of her diary; see diary entries for May 10 and May 12, 1900 (Suite 17) in Tagebuch-Suiten ed. by Beaumont and Rode-Breymann. The letters contain poems by Clauser, which he sent to her with the understanding that she was going to set them to music.
