Summary:
A drama about three generations of women in a Scottish family reminiscing about the past and musing about life as they shelter from the rain . The women are travelling to Iona in pursuit of a miracle to cure Petal, the youngest, who has a fatal shadow on her bladder, the more acute consequence of which is part of their reason for stopping at a guest house, where they meet three men of similar ages. The story is told three times, with various changes and differences in perspective, but of course there is little in the way of action. Instead, the six combine awkward pleasantries and mundane practical chatter about the fish man with reflections on their dead relatives.
