Each volume has a half-title, and a titlepage in red and black.

Vol.I contains a declaration signed Carteret, dated the 18th day of April 1722, granting John Barber a Royal Licence to print and publish Buckingham's Works .. for fourteen years.

Two prose essays in vol.2 (pp.69-102, 159-172) were suppressed; the original sheets are not uncommon, and the omissions were subsequently reprinted on unwatermarked paper and inserted in other copies.
