In 1905, Albert Einstein had quit university life, failed as a teacher, and took a job as a patent office expert third class. On his second marriage, with a new-born child in hand, Einstein embarked on a remarkable journey of discovery. 2005 marks the 100th anniversary of Einstein's three papers which were the basis for the Theory of Relativity, and that are referred to in the science community as the Annus Mirabilis.
