Summary:
Set in the Crimea during the early 60s, the film is part love story and part political thriller. When Major Kraikov is found hanged, General Stupka suspects that his past has become 'inconvenient'. Someone in the KGB has begun to plot against him. Viktor is his new driver, a decent man who is required to note down everything he hears. He soon becomes driver to the general's daughter, Vera, and they fall in love. It gradually becomes clear that Serov and his Army associates are involved in a bitter conflict with KGB rivals.
