- The Rose tree, attributed to John O'Keeffe in Philbrick, Thomas L. "British authorship of ballads in the Isaiah Thomas collection," Studies in bibliography, papers of the Bibliographical Society of the University of Virginia, volume 9, 1957, pages 255-258; first line: A rose tree in full bearing, had sweet flowers fair to see.
- Dated by Damon as no earlier than 1786. The Rose tree, and John O'Keeffe's comedy the Poor soldier for which it was written, was performed for the first time in London in 1783, and in America in December of 1785.
