Attributed to Thomas Lee by Evans. According to Richard Crawford, however, the compiler is unknown. Lee was responsible for another compilation entitled Sacred harmony [1800?] recorded as Evans 38446.
Dated [1790?] by Evans, [1789] by Shipton and Mooney. The American Antiquarian Society copy has an owner's inscription dated 1789. Charles Cambridge, together with James White, printed "near Charles River Bridge" circa 1788-1792.
