- "W. Wing" is a pseudonym alluding to the Wing family of England, astronomers and astrologers. The almanac begun by Vincent Wing (1619-1668) was continued by John Wing (1643-1726) and by Tycho Wing (1696-1750). The first almanac in the present series, for 1762, was entitled Wing reviv'd.
