Summary:
Richard Cutler describes his career with the super-secret X-2 counterintelligence brach of the Office of Stratetic Services (OSS) during World War II, and his post-war counterespionage work with its successor, the War Department's Strategic Services Unit (SSU), which later became the CIA. While with X-2, he analyzed Ultra intercepts and vetted agents about to be sent into Germany. Cutler also provides an insightful overview of OSS operations during the war. With photographs and a foreword by best-selling author Joseph Persico (Roosevelt's Secret War: FDR and the World War II Espionage), Counterspy delivers a fascinating account of espionage during World War II and the beginning of the Cold War.
