Summary:
Bulgaria during the Ottoman Empire. A goatherd comes home to find his wife raped and murdered by Turks and his daughter, who witnessed the attack, struck dumb by shock. Bent on revenge, the goatherd retreats to the caves and raises his daughter as a boy, training her to fight and revenge her mother's death. The girl eventually meets a Muslim shepherd and falls in love; her father, through jealousy and rage kills the shepherd and essentially kills his own daughter.
