Summary:
This reference provides detailed information about all the Anglican churches built and restored in Glamorgan, Wales, during the restoration boom of the 19th century. Entries are included for 225 churches built or restored between 1837 and 1901, with attention also paid to the important work that was carried out immediately before and soon after that era. As well as providing information about the architect. builder, donor, and date of consecration, this study also examines church layout with precise measurements, the materials used, and styles of architecture adopted during that period. In addition, a wealth of archival research and personal observations lend insight into the 19th-century Victorian ecclesiastical atmosphere.
