Summary:
"This fascinating documentary paints a moving portrait of controversial figure Leon Trotsky. Based on the book, The prophet outcast, by Isaac Deutcher [i.e. Deutscher], Exile in Buyukada provides the viewer with intimate access to Trotsky, the revolutionary who advocated world revolution with socialism in one country, and ultimately, the exiled opponent of Stalin after Lenin died. In his twilight exiled years, Leon Trotsky spent time in France, Norway, and Mexico. Before these final years, Turkey granted asylum for the deported leader of the Soviet revolution.
His home for four years was the island of Buyukada, just off the city of Istanbul. In Trotsky's memoirs, he wrote: 'Oddly, I feel as if my feet had gotten somewhat rooted in the soil of Buyukada.'"--Container.
