- The American Veterans of Israel, established in 1949-1950 in New York City, is a group of U.S. and Canadian veterans, Jews and non-Jews, who took part in the Israel-Arab War and the establishment of Israel. The 1949 group left no written records. The group was reorganized, chartered and incorporated in 1963 and again left no record before the appearance of the AVI newsletter in 1966.
