Summary:
A dance hall girl sacrifices all so that her daughter can have a happy and respectable life. Ultimately, her daughter is forced to make an equally great sacrifice for her mother. The film was one of the first to liberate the camera from its soundproof booth, shoot live on location, and use superimposed soundtracks.
