Summary:
A Story of the Psalms is an interdisciplinary project that is informed especially by synchronic approaches to reading the Bible and the work of social scientists and theologians who have studied the contemporary landscape confronting religious communities, particularly congregations. Specifically, insights from narrative analysis are used to discern in the Book of Psalms a story with a plot that is told by multiple voices -- engaged with one another and with God -- as they address crucial junctures in Israel's life. These enduring voices offer guidance to congregations of an emerging church in a Post -- Christendom era.
