- Summary:
- In general, historians from early periods are no longer taken at face value, but evaluated according to what is known about them and their time, says Al-Azmeh (Central European U.). But Ibn Khaldun (1332-1406 AD) has managed to avoid such objective consideration, and is still revered not only as a true historical source of his time, but also as the unchallenged sociological and cultural interpreter of medieval North Africa and much of medieval and modern Arab-Islamic culture. It is time for that situation to end, he says, and begins the process. A new preface has been added to the reprint of the 1982 publication by Frank Cass. Distributed by Books International.
