- "Of this third number of Troutbeck leaflets (which has been reprinted from the American Mercury of November, 1924) one hundred and twenty copies have been printed for private distribution. The dialogue expresses its author's imaginative reaction to conversations which took place at Troutbeck, in 1921, between Van Wyck Brooks, Lewis Mumford, Ernest Boyd, and J. E. Spingarn, but it must not be assumed to represent the actual opinions of any of them in any particular whatever."
