Summary:
In this, the first publication of her color work, Lynn Geesaman continues to evoke the human dreams of artifice and industry that have imposed their will upon the natural landscape. For almost twenty years, Geesaman has photographed fertile orchards and fields as well as elaborately cultivated gardens and manicured walkways of parks, estates, and chateaus in Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, and across the United States. Through her poetic vision, rendered in an array of vibrant hues, a mesmerizing tension emerges from an uncanny sense of the natural world's seemingly unnatural logic; Geesaman unearths the repetitive patterns that reside in these landscapes. Geesaman's work is in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, among others.
