- Summary:
- TNM Supplement: A Commentary on Uniform Use, Third Edition updates and expands the International Union Against Cancer's (UICC) monograph defining the proper use of TNM classification for malignant tumours. Internationally, the TNM classification system is the most widely used means to describe the progression of cancer and to indicate prognosis. The UICC's TNM Supplement, as a companion to TNM Classification of Malignant Tumours, Sixth Edition, provides the explanatory notes and definitions that clarify the nuances of the TNM staging system. The TNM Supplement, Third Edition, includes new, detailed definitions of anatomical sites, regional lymph nodes, and TNM categories. It answers questions that often arise during daily use of the TNM system. The text expands on the minimum requirements for pathological classification of individual tumour sites and enumerates the recommended criteria for each. All UICC-sponsored references related to prognostic factors in cancer and the TNM staging system are now available in TNM Online. The online database integrates the full text of TNM Classification of Malignant Tumours, TNM Supplement, and Prognostic Factors in Cancer providing a one-stop resource for all who employ the TNM classification system in assessing the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of patients with cancer.
