- "Colophon, six initials, and one hundred and seventeen illustrative initials by Valenti Angelo printed in red. Paragraph marks in green, illustration on title page, and six headpieces all drawn and hand-colored by Valenti Angelo. Type Koch Bibel Gotische, handset; paper Unbleached Arnold. Bound in red leather; title in gold on back. One hundred and seventy-five regular copies, numbered 26-200, printed for direct sale ... Also twenty-five special copies, numbered 1-25, privately printed for Herbert Rothchild. These differ as follows: (1) P. 168 blank (2) New colophon (3) Three blank leaves at end (40 Entirely different set of initials hand-drawn and hand-colored in red by Valenti Angelo (5) One additional illuminated illustration at foot of second page of text (6) Paragraph marks hand-colored in red and blue (7) Binding tooled in gold ... Although the original plan was to hand-illuminate the initials through the entire edition, the idea was abandoned after the twenty-five 'special' copies were finished because the printers felt that the hand-illuminated initials were not fitted to the subject. They consider the book much more successful in the regular edition."--Heller.
- "A curious error occurred in the printing of this book; the date on the title page was given as 1383 instead of 1483. Fortunately the error was discovered before the regular edition left the shop, and was corrected by hand. The twenty-five special copies for Herbert Rothchild, however, were distributed with the mistake unchanged."--Heller.5

- Vilain-Wieck Collection copy is number 117 (the copy number supplied in manuscript in red ink) of a limited edition of 200 copies, of which 175 (numbered 26-200) were for sale. See colophon.
