Summary:
Performance by Balasaraswati (1919-1984), regarded as "the foremost exponent of Bharata Natyam (South Indian classical dance)." She begins by singing, then dances the piece Krishna ni begane baro, depicting various episodes from the life of the Hindu god Krishna. Voiceover narration provides the English translation of some of the accompanying verses, and brief descriptions of the action. The production of this film was arranged by world music professor Robert E. Brown during Balasaraswati's residency at Wesleyan University shortly after her U.S. debut at Jacob's Pillow.
