Summary:
Archaeologists report the results of excavation campaigns between 1978 and 1993 of six houses that were discovered undisturbed and in good condition during surface mapping of the lower town of New Halos in 1977. Rather than focusing on each house, the chapters look at overall features with examples from the various houses. The topics are the town and the investigation itself; general features of the houses; artifacts; environmental, vegetation, and faunal remains; and the beginning and end of the occupation of New Halos, postulated to have been only from 302 to 265 BC. Appended are catalogues of pottery, figurines, loom weights, metal artifacts, and coins. A first volume on the excavations in the city of New Halos was published in 1988 (HES Publishers, Utrecht) Annotation (c)2003 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
