Notes:
"The Second Issue of the First Edition of the third Canto of Childe Harold's pilgrimage may also be readily identified. The Title-page was re-set and for the quotation a larger fount of type, brevier, was employed. The initial letter L of the word Lettre falls immediately under the letter u of celui; and the full line measures 3 1/2 inches. At the end of the first line of the second stanza the note of exclamation is always in its place. On page 67 the line 'An Eagle towering in his pride of place' remained uncorrected."--Wise.
"In the first variant of the second issue ... the second word in the fifth line of the first note on page (67) reads 'Eagle.' In the second variant of this issue this word reads, for the first time correctly, 'Falcon.'"--Randolph.
"T. Davison, Lombard-street, Whitefriars, London"--Half-t.p. verso.
