- Summary:
- Robert Minhinnick is alive to his environment: indeed he has worked for Friends of the Earth and has a scientist's regard for facts and particulars. The poet in him sees into the facts of environment and history. After the Hurricane is his first book since Selected Poems, and it is safe now to declare what seemed likely from his earlier books; that Minhinnick is a major voice, attuned to the particulars of his own threatened environment, and to the human and natural calamities that undermine our environmental and mental ecologies. The geographical range of the poet's imagination is as wide as his travels have been. The poems are alive also to human diversity which at once graces and threatens the planet.
