- "This reprint of one of a series of articles entitled 'First Books of Great Authors' by Luther S. Livingston (1864-1914), appearing in 'The Bookman' (New York) for December 1899, was prepared as a Christmas favor for fellow bibliophiles, who received presentation copies a few weeks after Christmas ... While the title-page states that 'Twenty copies' were printed ... Livingston manually inserted the word 'seven' before 'copies' on the title-page, indicating a true limitation of twenty-seven copies." --Cf. Richards.
