- Reporting on a four-year study done by the Environment Directorate of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development to assess the design of government policies addressing the environmental impacts of the building sector, this study addresses such issues as energy consumption, indoor air quality, carbon dioxide emissions from buildings, and construction and demolition waste. Among the policy instruments assessed are energy design standards in building regulations, capital subsidy programs for energy efficiency investment, energy audit programs, various taxes, environmental labelling schemes, and public purchasing requirements.
