- Summary:
- Primary health care is identified in government policy as the main arena for the promotion of health and the treatment and prevention of ill health. Community nurses have an important place in the delivery of this agenda, and much change and development of community nursing practice has taken place as a result. Practice Development in Community Nursing provides community nurses with evidence derived from real examples of the process of undertaking practice development activities. It also addresses the possible pitfalls as well as the gains of practice development and helps to answer any questions community nurses may have about the subject. The first of the four sections in the book outlines the theory that underpins practice development and related activities. The second section provides real-life examples of practice development initiatives and is written by nurses with wide experience in the field. The third section summarizes the lessons that can be learned from these examples, and the final section provides information on resources, including web sites, to support practice development initiatives.
