Notes:
"This edition of Paradise lost pays typographic tribute to two earlier editions ...: the second edition of 1674, the year of the poet's death ..., and the second Baskerville edition of 1759. ... We have cast the type for this book [in Monotype Baskerville], in the 14-point size, only slightly smaller than the letters in the 1759 edition. ... The paper in the Arion edition is a special making by the Zerkall mill in Germany that is of wove formation and of weight ... and color (ivory) similar to Baskerville's sheet. ... In homage to the 1674 printing, we have employed a blackletter in running heads, Goudy Text ... The Arion edition was produced under my direction [Andrew Hoyem] with the assistance of Gerald Reddan, Blake Riley, Lewis Mitchell, Peter Stoelzl, Chris Chen, Diana Ketcham, Charles Martin, David Higgs, Lynn Strandberg, and Diane Dempsey Murray. This is the sixty-fourth publication of Arion Press. Paradise lost is limited to 400 numbered copies for sale and 26 lettered copies for complimentary distribution to participants in the project."--Colophon.
