Summary:
This is a first book by a poet of mature years who spent her life writing poetry, largely in secret, and in many ways deferring to the gifts of her husband who was a painter. Readers will be touched by the beauty of Jane Rohrer's observations, her mixture of innocence and toughness. Some people might call it durability. One gets a sense that her life is fully lived -- her art cheated by circumstance. This is a book where the fantasy of revolution never occurred. In the end her innocent voice is tragic, purging us of the innocence and terror that follows that muse.
