The text appears complete in spite of pagination; the register is continuous to p. 646, apart from the loss of two leaves each in quires Bb and Ggg, immediately preceding the gaps in pagination.
The "Epistle dedicatory" following the general title page is signed: John Howe; "To the reader" and the dedication to part II are signed: William Taylor.
"A treatise of the life of faith" following p. 646 has caption title, and separate pagination and register.
Part II has separate title page dated 1689; following the author's name it reads: .. Part the second. A treatise of self-denial. With several sermons on the sacrament of the Lords-Supper, and other occasions. With an alpabetical table to the whole. The imprint reads in part: .. for Thomas Parkhurst, and Jonathan Robinson. "A treatise of self-denial" has separate pagination and register.
The sermons in part II also have separate pagination and register, and a separate general title page, dated 1688, which reads in part, " Several sermons preached on publick occasions, some of which explain the nature, use, and end of the Sacrament of the Lords Supper". Each of these sermons has a caption title.
With table and index at the end of the volume.
