- Summary:
- Cancer is a group of diseases characterized by uncontrolled cell growth and spread of abnormal cells. Over 150 types of cancer, all with different behaviors and causes, have been classified in humans. Current research has amassed a large body of knowledge about the disease; however, the precise mechanism or group of mechanisms involved in the onset of cancer still eludes researchers. While a variety of treatment options exist, science has yet to uncover a definitive cure.
