- Summary:
- A series of poverty consultations were carried out in four districts of Sri Lanka in mid-2000. This study presents the results of these consultations, which were intended to gain a more meaningful appreciation of the scope and breadth of poverty in Sri Lanka based on the perceptions of the poor. In turn, the process helped explain Sri Lanka's development needs as perceived by the poor and to identify the most appropriate sectors to which support can be channeled towards sustainable poverty reduction.
