Ad Reuerendissimum. patrem & dominum. innocentium romanum. eiusdem gloriose religionis preceptorem. & generale decus. in salute[m] anima[rum] feciliter [sic] i[n]cipit.
Imprint from colophon on leaf 2o5r, which reads: Quadragesimale hoc perutile impressum mediolani per prudentes Alamanos. Magistros artis huius Vldericum scinczenceller & Leonardum pachel socios. Anno domini .i479. die decimo septembris.
Chancery folio, printed in double columns. Leaf a2r: 50 lines to a full column, plus printed marginalia; area of text: 198 x 123 (155) mm.; col. width: 56 mm. Initial spaces, most with guide letters. Printed paragraph marks. With signatures; without foliation or catchwords. Woodcut half-length portrait of the author writing at his desk within architectural border with monogram M.P.F.O.S.S. (i.e. Magister Paulus Florentinus Ordinis Sancti Spiritus) on leaf pi1v. "The portrait of the author ... is that found in the Breuiarium totius juris canonici of 28 August 1479 [also printed by Scinzenzeler and Pachel]"--BM 15th cent.
Signatures: pi² a-2n⁸ 2o⁶.
Leaves a1 and 2o6 are blanks.
Caption on leaf pi1r: Tabula prima sermonum per ordinem in hoc perutili Quadragesimale a .lxx. vs[que] ad Diem Tertium Pasce.

Penn Libraries copy bound in modern half brown leather over speckled paper boards; 4 raised bands on spine; gold-tooled spine panel; ms. title and imprint place and date ("Pauli Florentini Quadragesimale. Mediolani. 1479.") in red, blue(?) and yellow ink on spine; spine damaged; left boards damaged at corners.
