Though Lescarbot's name is nowhere mentioned, this is a translation into English from his Histoire de la Nouvelle France (1st edition 1609) by Pierre Erondelle, at the request of Richard Hakluyt. It covers only the part relating to the voyages and settlements of de Monts, Pontgrave and Poutrincourt, with the book on the Indians.
