Summary:
The great Viennese composer Franz Schubert (1797- 1828) created a remarkable number of works in his tragically brief life, including these two magnificent early symphonies, composed before Schubert was 21! The works are Symphony No. 3 in D Major (D.200), scored for 12 wind instruments and timpani, and Symphony No. 6 in C Major (D. 589) -- known as "The Little Symphony in C, " to distinguish it from Symphony No. 9, "The Great C Major Symphony" (the ending of the former foreshadows the magnificent finale of the latter). Reproduced from an authoritative edition, this inexpensive compilation of two fine works will be welcomed by musicians and music lovers.
