- Documents the life and careers of the great Russian scientist, dissident, and politician Andrei Sakharov, who was been called the "father of Soviet democracy" and who, after his return to Moscow from internal exile in December, 1986, became the leader of Democratic opposition to Gorbachev. Sakharov's release and opposition marked the real beginning of Glasnost. Includes extensive commentary on his life and work by friends, colleagues and family members.
